Mahershala Ali

Mahershala Ali is a two-time Academy Award–winning actor for his roles in Moonlight and Green Book.

He was most recently seen in Netflix’s Leave the World Behind, alongside Julia Roberts, Ethan Hawke, and Kevin Bacon. He will next appear in the highly anticipated Jurassic World Rebirth with Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Bailey, and is currently in production on Your Mother, Your Mother, Your Mother, directed by Bassam Tariq for Amazon MGM Studios’ Orion Pictures.

Ali has earned Emmy nominations for his performances in Hulu’s Ramy, HBO’s True Detective, and Netflix’s House of Cards. He also received a nomination for his work as narrator of Netflix’s Chimp Empire, and in 2019 won the Emmy for Outstanding Children’s Program as Executive Producer of HBO’s We Are the Dream.

Other credits include Apple TV+’s Swan Song; the Academy Award–winning Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse; Theodore Melfi’s Hidden Figures alongside Taraji P. Henson and Octavia Spencer; Robert Rodriguez’s Alita: Battle Angel with Jennifer Connelly and Christoph Waltz; Gary Ross’s The Free State of Jones opposite Matthew McConaughey; and the final Hunger Games installments, portraying Boggs in Mockingjay Parts 1 and 2.

He also starred in Marvel/Netflix’s Luke Cage as Cottonmouth, Derek Cianfrance’s critically acclaimed The Place Beyond the Pines opposite Ryan Gosling and Bradley Cooper, and David Fincher’s The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
